Kathy Patton and Geoff Gunn Eagle Scout Project Grant Fund
The “Kathy Patton and Geoff Gunn Eagle Scout Project Grant Fund,” established in 2019 through a donation from the Dunn and Lapides families, supports Scouts seeking funds for their Eagle Projects. It allows for contributions towards all Troop Eagle Projects with a single annual payment. The fund accepts donations from LVSAA members, scout families, local BSA units, and the wider community, facilitating easier distribution of funds directly to Eagle Scouts in Troop 127. Donors can make a one-time annual contribution via check or credit card to the LVSAA, streamlining tax reporting under one tax ID.
Eligibility for funding requires the Scout to be from an LVSAA-chartered member unit, with the project approved by the Council. Applicants must submit a solicitation letter in line with current standards. Starting from 2023, eligible Eagle candidates can receive up to $150 or 10% of their project’s projected cost. As funding increases, the potential donation amount may rise.
The Lapides Scout Assistance Fund
The “Scout Assistance Fund” by the Las Virgenes Scouting Alumni Association (LVSAA) offers financial aid to scouts needing support to participate in activities. Managed as a separate account, a committee oversees fund distribution, limiting allocations to 33% of the fund annually. Scouts apply through a detailed form, assessing financial need, scouting involvement, and fundraising efforts. Eligibility is restricted to scouts in good standing with their chartered organization. The fund covers activity fees, camp costs, or reimburses approved expenses, ensuring sustained assistance and engagement in scouting.
